Restorative Dentistry: From Delicate Enhancement To Complex Smile Makeovers!

Fillings
Fillings are the most common restorative procedure. After decay is removed from a tooth, something must be positioned in that space to give strength back to the tooth. You can also replace old gold and silver filling with the natural looking materials of a filling. The composites of today are strong, durable, and attractive. Dr. Bishop uses white mercury-free fillings. More details about Fillings

Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and Onlays are designed to fill in cavities and areas of damage in the teeth. They replace missing tooth structure to prevent further fraction.  While regular fillings are made of material that is directly fitted inside of the tooth, inlays and onlays are molded from porcelain or even gold and cemented in place. Ceramic and Porcelain Crowns
Ceramic and Porcelain Crowns or caps have been around for most of the past century. They are made of ceramic glass, often strengthened with a translucent material such as zirconium. Crowns have always been a highly desirable cosmetic solution for front teeth even without the ability of modern bonding Crowns are extremely durable and highly resistant to stain or color change. They are an excellent choice for restoring severely fractured or decayed teeth, heavily worn teeth and for replacing old crowns. More details about Ceramic and Porcelain Crowns

Bridgework
Bridges work by closing spaces in your mouth and filling gaps with long-lasting artificial teeth. They are comfortable, esthetic, and they protect broken down teeth. They are also a permanently cemented alternative to partial dentures. More details about Bridgework

Partial and Full Dentures
A Partial Denture is a removable dental appliance that replaces multiple missing teeth. It can be attached to the teeth with clasps or it can be attached to the teeth with crowns with precision attachments. Both types have a metal framework and plastic teeth and gum areas. Full Dentures are for patients missing all teeth. They can also be used for added stability and increased chewing force in combination with dental implants and precision attachments. Dental Implants
Dental Implants are a wonderful solution for missing/removal of 1 or more teeth. They eliminate gaps and provide a permanent, natural alternative to a partial or full denture. Dental Implants are surgically placed in the jawbone. After bone and gums grow around the implants, holding them firmly in place, an artificial tooth or teeth are attached to the implant. Usually Dental Implants are hard to tell apart from natural teeth. Implants are like natural tooth roots, which help maintain bone height in the jaw. More details about Dental Implants

Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics)
Root Canal Treatment is usually needed for two reasons: infection or irreversible damage to the pulp. Once the pulp becomes infected, the infection can affect the bone around the tooth. The goal of root canal treatment is to save the tooth by removing the infected pulp, treating the infection, and filling the empty canals with an inert material.

In most cases, you will not experience any pain during the root canal procedure. Dr. Bishop numbs your tooth and the surrounding area. Don’t fear the anesthetic injections, because numbing gels and modern injection systems have made injections virtually painless. More details about Root Canal Treatment

Extractions
Dr. Bishop provides his patients with local anesthesia. Patients with special medical conditions and young children receive a combination of local and conscious sedation when a tooth needs to be removed. In any case, Dr. Bishop guides you through the whole process and helps to make the procedure as quickly and as comfortable for his patients as possible.

After the tooth is removed, patients may need stitches. Some stitches dissolve over time and some have to be removed after a few days. Dr. Bishop will let you know if your stitches need to be removed. A folded cotton gauze pad placed over the wound will help stop the bleeding. More details about Extractions
